Scholarship Competition

Mentor Appreciation Scholarship:
Do you feel that your life changed because of a mentor's influence or by being a mentor to someone else? If you're an adult 21 years or older and can answer yes to either of the above, author and youth advocate J.R. Parrish, who credits his own success to having had remarkable mentors, wants to hear your story. To commemorate the publication of his new book, You Don't Have to Learn the Hard Way: Making it in the Real World, he will award the adult with the best mentor story a $10,000 college scholarship for the younger person of his or her choice.


Rules and Regulations:

Interested entrants must answer the following question in 800 words or less: How was your life changed by a mentor or by serving as a mentor to someone else? All stories must be true. Falsified entries will be disqualified. Submissions will be judged on content, clarity and emotional engagement. Submissions are being accepted via the Web site: mentorscholarship.com. Submission deadline is July 15, 2009. The best entry will be announced Sept.15, 2009. All submissions become the sole property of J.R. Parrish upon receipt and may be used in part or in their entirety for promotional purposes. Participant with best entry will be awarded a $10,000 college scholarship for the young person of their choice. Scholarship recipient must be a high school senior or undergraduate student formally enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university and be able to provide proof of enrollment.


Rules:


1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. All entries must be received by July 15, 2009. Entries and other submitted material become the property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.

2. Your entry must be wholly original with you and must not incorporate or include anything that is owned by any third party and must not violate any copyright, trademark, publicity right or any other right of any third party. By entering the essay competition, you acknowledge and agree that Sponsor shall own, upon submission, all rights of every kind or nature including, without limitation, all intellectual property in perpetuity throughout the world in and to your submission, with the right to make any and all uses thereof for any purpose, in any and all media, whether now known or hereafter devised. All entries will be judged by a panel of judges who will determine what they believe to be the best, most appropriate and legally acceptable. There will be only one person/entrant selected. Person/entrant selected will be selected on or about September 15, 2009. The decision of the judges is final and binding in all regards. Person/entrant selected will be notified by telephone and mail.

3. Person/entrant selected is responsible for all expenses not expressly included.

4. By entering or accepting the award in this essay competition, person/entrant selected agrees to be bound by the decisions of the judges comply with all federal, state and local laws and regulations. No award substitutions, transfers, or cash alternatives permitted.
